Hurstwic Events

Cumberland woods

Hurstwic members provide demonstrations and presentations at museums, universities, schools, historical societies, and other cultural institutions.

Our Viking Age arms and armor demonstration was described in a news story by Chris Bergeron that appeared in the MetroWest Daily News on May 28, 2006. The story can be downloaded here (1MB pdf). A promotional video for our demonstration at Higgins Armory Museum is here on YouTube.

Currently scheduled public appearances include:

December 4

Presentation on Daily Life in the Viking Age for the Middleborough Public Schools

December 20

Demonstration of Viking Age arms, armor, and combat techniques at Higgins Armory Museum at 2PM

Normally, we present a live demonstration of Viking age combat techniques on the 3rd (and where applicable, 5th) Saturday of each month at 2PM at Higgins Armory Museum, part of the regular Weekend at Higgins program. Occasionally, scheduling changes prevent us from offering a demonstration, in which case we offer a presentation on Viking age weapons, instead.

Photos from some Hurstwic events can be seen in the Hurstwic photo album.
